This was such a good film. We’ve not done all the Predator series and certainly haven’t dipped into the Alien versus Predator situation, but as this was a prequel, it seemed okay to give it a whirl out of sequence. I’m glad we did, it was great. The film was absolutely stripped back to the bare essentials and stacked full of tension from start to finish.
Amber Midthunder was fantastic in the lead role, easily holding the screen and showing off great warrior skills without being infallible. It was really interesting to see the juxtaposition between the native hunters from 300 years ago, and the advanced technology of the alien invader. It was so good.
The only reason it’s not a full score of 5/5 is because the violence was just a bit too much in places. When you have to spend significant time covering your eyes it does detract slightly from the enjoyment. Small complaint though for a fantastic film.
