“Move it! Move it! 4 pampered animals from New York’s Central Park Zoo find themselves shipwrecked on the exotic island of Madagascar, and discover it really IS a jungle out there! Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith lead an all-star cast of hilarious animals, including four mischievous penguins and legions of lemurs. It’s a film that you’ll go wild for again and again!”

2:32 – I know this is a cartoon but do animals have treadmills in zoos?
4:08 – Well, this is making me want to play Zoo Tycoon.
7:36 – The zoo is “some whacked out conspiracy.”
10:37 – “The penguins are psychotic.”
15:56 – I wouldn’t be able to sleep with a blinkin’ parrot squawking either.
20:09 – Hippo riding the subway is perfect.
24:09 – Also loving Hippo Liberty.
27:42 – I can totally see why the penguins got their own movie. Best thing in it.
34:22 – San Diego zoo, like off of Marcel.
37:44 – “We should have bought chips and dip.”
42:28 – “Can you not see that you have insulted the freak?”
42:44 – New York Giants!
54:47 – Loving the door for no reason and the roof that opens even though they’re inches from outside anyway.
1:00:28 – The lion has gone completely crazy.
1:09:15 – Penguin putting on suncream.
1:13:11 – “What’s the plan?’ “This is the plan!”

This is the weakest of the animations we’ve watched so far – both story-wise and in terms of visuals. Having already enjoyed the Penguins movie, I was naturally disappointed about how much the penguins featured in this, they were the stars of the show and criminally underused.

The rest of it was all a bit underwhelming. It went crazy in places, I wasn’t a big fan of the Madagascar natives and for some reason I feel uncomfortable about the hook of the story being that the lion is obeying his natural instincts in wanting to eat meat.

I can totally understand the penguin spin-off but how did this get two more sequels?
