3:43 – That’s a lot of story in four minutes.
7:54 – “Please don’t bother with that channel, those people are idiots.” Guess who.
8:43 – She has an epic house. How does she afford that on a teacher’s salary?
14:04 – Wow, she seems smart.
14:25 – TV chatting about the Dow Jones. Priorities.
19:25 – What an incredible view with the clouds over the hill.
21:20 – I boggle at the ability to just set up a camp somewhere like this, when something happens.
28:39 – This change of gravity situation is making my head fizz.
31:54 – Oh my god, who brought the bird? SHURRUP.
36:34 – Surely as a visual aid, you should be drawing pictures not writing words.
40:25 – Like the kangaroo story, how can it not be true?
42:66 – Joe Alien.
54:12 – I like the lessons. Ian Walks.
56:56 – “You can understand communication and still be single.”
1:03:27 – What it must be like to know ALL the languages.
1:08:27 – A world with no single leader is an interesting idea.
1:09:41 – GAH, communication is the key. Did people learn nothing from LOST?

1:22:47 – “Why do I have to talk to him?’
1:28:40 – The CGI hair is poor.
1:31:42 – That hit me like a brick. Dislike twists that are genuinely painful!
1:48:45 – I sort of don’t buy them as a couple. But I like him more after this.
Incredible film. Great story, both the intergalactic side of things, and the more drama-based human story too. The way they intermingle, the sudden twist when everything becomes clear, it’s all just incredibly well done.
Amy Adams is fabulous as the intense language expert, and I quite liked Jeremy Renner in this – although I do still think they lacked a bit of chemistry, particularly as they were thrown together in the face of such a crazy situation.
There’s really no downside to this film, at all. The tension was good, the story totally believable, and the conclusion satisfying – which almost never happens. Great stuff.
