“The sequel to the worldwide smash hit Olympus Has Fallen begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate every known landmark in the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart), his formidable secret service head (Gerard Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.”

0:34 – They think it’s cool to do the blippy screen thing but it’s just worrying in case our TV is broken!
5:11 – Mm, I’d love a walled compound.
10:46 – See, this is what happens when you take a week off. Holiday is bad.
14:31 – Aw, Morgan Freeman. Love people who just command the screen like that.
16:46 – “Bullet-proofing the walls of the nursery?” Don’t give him ideas.
19:05 – Can see his point, the fewer people that know the better, but you also need to work together on this kind of thing.
22:36 – I hope there’s not going to be a test on all these names and faces later.
27:31 – I knew that bridge was a bad idea. There should be boxes on bridges.
40:28 – Did not like the helicopters. Nonono.
47:06 – “The only person you trust now is me.” He says that, but in any other film he’d end up being a bad guy too.
56:43 – Their swearing seems really out of place, which is odd considering the circumstances.
58:44 – “Find something you care about, and care deeply.”
1:00:46 – I’m assuming he’ll be fine, but “don’t jinx me” would be epic final words.
1:11:41 – So this is what war would be like in London.
1:18:14 – They’re waiting for their router. This film is geeky too!
1:28:03 – Liking the smart MI6 woman. Spin off film for her please.

Conclusions

I wasn’t particularly bothered about this one really, the first film was okay but not as good as the other White House film with Channing Tatum in. However, I’m always up for something of a disaster movie, so we opted to watch this on a much needed wine-fuelled Friday night.

This one was similar to the last, in that it looked like it had the potential to be a good film, but the story didn’t quite make sense. Also, there were some seriously dodgy special effects along the way (some of the London river stuff was particularly bad). Having said that, there was one sequence that was really good, where it was a long one-shot take as the battle took place in the streets. Really liked that.

By the end of the film, I had come to the conclusion that it was not a great movie but entertaining enough to get by. Then, just like with the first film, we got a true nerd treat right at the end of the movie.

I’m going to hold my hands up and say that the wine made us super nerdy as we watched this, because firstly, I noticed he was supposed to be using Mail but had previously been using Pages on the Mac.

Then on further investigation, we realised whilst he had been in London for two weeks, his Mac had been upgraded to a new version and all his dock icons moved around.

We had quite a lot of fun trying to decide what the President’s bodyguard would be using Graphr for.
