Title: Two Night Stand
Director: Max Nichols
Run time: 1hr 26m
“Heartbroken by the collapse of her wedding engagement and egged on by her roommate, Megan boldly propositions Alex, a cute and funny guy she meets online, for her first ever one-night stand. However, when a paralyzing blizzard hits the city trapping them in Alec’s cramped Brooklyn apartment she is sheepishly forced to take shelter with an equally mortified Alec. Forced to spend another day and night together, Megan and Alex decide that they have the opportunity for a hands-on learning experience that inevitably leads them to a very adult snow day.”
1:26 – Eek, door alarms are terrifying.
3:27 – Eating an entire gingerbread house is living the dream, surely.
5:48 – “I’m ready for you to be ready.”
8:07 – Benjamin Buttoning… is a verb now?
9:54 – “Keeping it lowercase, keeping it casual.”
17:38 – The telly did tell her. Sometimes the weather people get it right.
24:27 – You can’t tell someone to go to their room in their own house.
28:25 – “Then I graduated. Whoops!”
37:26 – The first draft of a name. He’s cute.
45:14 – Mortal Kombat reference! “Finish him.”
46:31 – Perfectly adequate is pretty brutal.
51:50 – Why were they wearing shoes in the house anyway? And the sheets are inside out! Bad film.
56:30 – “That’s the burden of being a genius.”
1:04:28 – I actually didn’t see that coming.
1:06:21 – Although I did think it was weird a single guy had a Christmas tree.
1:11:17 – “I made sure the internet wasn’t lonely.”
1:16:39 – Ha, love the policeman!
1:22:07 – “Thank you snowflakes.”
We love a film that is in the cinema and also available to rent online simultaneously, as it gets rid of the hideous windowing that we’re always waiting for. So, settled down for this one after what seemed like a reasonable trailer, and I think it exceeded expectations.
Cute and funny, an intriguing couple of people forced into a situation that starts out awkward but gradually relaxes and brings you along for the ride. I thought the two leads handled it very well, and held the film from start to finish, particularly as it was mostly them for the entire thing. Even their early text and video chat wasn’t dull.
