Title: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Director: Shane Black
Run time: 1hr 43m
I think perhaps we downloaded this one mostly based on the amusing trailer and the fact it has Iron Man in it. I don’t know how we found it, because it was quite a while ago and we were down to about two days left on the rental by the time we got round to watching it. I’d never heard of it before but I’ve liked Robert Downey Jr in pretty much everything so far.
3:57 – Pool parties are creepy when the pool starts steaming.
4:58 – I like a narrator with attitude.
7:09 – Well that’s art imitating life.
12:42 – Always thought those books with coloured edges were kinda weird.
17:47 – Is her name Flickr?
28:42 – Having two main characters called Harry and Perry is confusing.
38:01 – This is a bizarre argument to be having when they’re setting off on a detective investigation together. He needs to find the spider.
39:14 – There’s a few dead bodies in this film!
41:43 – He’s only been in town for two days and all this is happening!
45:50 – “I used to be great, now I’m amazing. Get with it.”
48:52 – I like them as a partnership, even if they hate each other.
51:46 – It’s terrifying you can actually do that with a door.
55:54: “This is not a book, this is not a movie.” It kinda is both of those!
57:49 – The finger thing is getting grim.
58:58 – “This is exhausting!” That line cannot be taken seriously anymore.
1:05:08 – I like that he looks away every time he fires.
1:14:02 – This time there is the romantic bit and they’re not in the midst of the chase or the fight. Bizarre.
1:17:21 – It’s fun that he’s asking if we solved it. But… erm… no.
1:26:37 – She’s so good!
1:33:23 – I approve of his narration so very much.
I liked this one but it was quite hard going. A bit complicated in places, and I think the “natural dialogue” thing that is such a phenomenon these days was overdone. The narration was inspired and there were some amusing moments that made it very entertaining. Both Robert and Val were excellent, so, overall, a thumbs up.
